The Gannel Estuary provides magnificent views from the grounds of Chatsworth House and a wealth of activities. Canoeing, Horse Riding, Bird Watching, Fishing and Gannel walks. There is an abundance of wild life and rarely seen birds frequent the area such as the Egret. Also regular visitors are Cormorants, Herons, Swans, Buzzards and Hawks. Chatsworth House is South Facing and the grounds form an enclave that provides a fantastic “Sun Trap”. Close by are the boating lake, award winning tea gardens, Newquay Zoo, Riding Stables and the famous Fistral Beach. So highly desirable is this area that even the famous such as the actors Donald Sutherland and Michael Caine have stayed at Chatsworth House whilst filming on location in the area many years ago. Star rating was based upon inspection of Apt 2.

 

At low tide one can walk from the bottom of drive across the Gannel Estuary to a sandy Beach and Penpal Creek leading across a wooden footpath into the idyllic village of Crantock at the mouth of the Estuary. West of Crantock village is the beautiful beach of Polly Joke, sheltered between West Pentire Point and Kelsey Head. This area is renowned for its beauty, walks, cliffs and general quaintness.
